The day started at Magor services
and with eight cars turning up, we set off to meet an MX-5 member from the
Western region. At Gordano services we meet up with James and then headed
towards Cheddar Gorge.
With a number of A and B roads to
navigate, the inevitable wrong turning occurred and trying to turn 9 cars around
on busy roads is not the easiest thing
in the world. The drive down through the gorge would have been fantastic with
the roof down but the weather was against us so we headed on for the museum
.
The Haynes motoring museum at
Stamford houses about 300 cars with the second hall being the most impressive
it houses many makes of cars with one thing in common the are all painted red.
If you like red cars then its motoring heaven. If you don’t, you still cant
fail to be impressed with cars like AC Cobras, E-Type Jags, Ferraris and
Lamborghini’s to name a few . The third
hall houses a display of modern sports cars with one of the scruffiest Eunos’ I
have ever seen. The forth hall contained international classics and with five
more halls containing motor-sport,
American and European displays the time soon went by.
We all meet back at the museum café
before making our way back home.
