Sunday June 1st - West is Best Again
A Good Omen
The morning started well (by that I mean dry) and there was a good turnout of 20 cars.
We left the Services at 10.40am and proceeded back down the M4 to Junction 46 where we took the road through Felindre over the mountain to Cwmcerdinen and Garnswllt, through Bettws to Ammanford. The route then took (most of) us through Ammanford, Saron, Capel Hendre and Gorslas to Cefneithin where we stopped to re-group as there had been road works on the way. Unfortunately, some people forgot to turn off in Ammanford and followed the road through to Llandybie, Penygroes, Gorslas and somewhere else!
Try Again
However, we eventually all met up at the Gwili Railway for a comfort stop and because we had lost time decided to plough on with the run so that we were not too late for lunch. Maureen (who had come on her own for this part of the run) then left us to go and pick Bram up for lunch. The rest of us left the railway and proceeded through Conwil Elfet, over the mountain to Newcastle Emlyn, on to Llanybydder and back on the main road to the outskirts of Carmarthen. From there we retraced the morning's run through Nantgaredig, Porthyrhyd, Drefach, Cwmmawr, Pontyberem and on to the Baltic at Ponthenri where we all enjoyed a superb lunch.
Happy Anniversary
At the end of lunch Maureen and Bram were presented with flowers and some wine as it was their 45th Wedding Anniversary.
Photos
If anyone has photos (as we forgot our camera!), then please send them to Ray at MX51FLY@aol.com so that he can put them on the net with this report.
Thank you all for coming and we hope you had a good day.
