Sunday November 25th - (P)Hill and Glen re-run

Here we go again

This was meant to be a re-run of the October 2006 run when it rained and rained and rained.
Weather then was atrocious: all hoods were definitely up and all views were 'clouded' in mystery.
With a little bit of tweaking with the middle part of the run, it was possible to go over the Eppynt in the 'right' direction to make the most of the long sweeping bends and long straights.
We started off with 13 cars and the weather, although not brilliant, was good enough to go topless for the whole trip.

The run started at Sarn Services M4, over the Bwlch Mountain to Treorchy (via Tondu, Brynmenyn, Bryncethin, Ogmore Vale and Nantymoel); over the Rhigos Mountain to Hirwaun with a viewing stop at the top overlooking Tower Colliery and the Brecon Beacons in the distance.
On leaving Hirwaun we took the road over the mountain to Storey Arms and on to Brecon. The run then took us through Sennybridge, Trecastle and through Llywel over the Eppynt Mountain. The British Army were on manoeuvres and there was a lot of 'men with guns' en route. On leaving the Eppynt we proceeded through Tirabad, Cynghordy and on to Llandovery.
As we had time to spare, we managed to put in an extra loop which took us down the A40 to Llanwrda where we branched off for Pumpsaint, Cilycwm, Porthyrhyd, Siloh and back to Llandovery for a carvery lunch at the Castle Hotel which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
