Well what we did not realise that there had been mixed messages as to the starting point and Glynis and Phil were at Junction 47 rounding everyone up and heading them down to Pont Abraham services, meanwhile we are waiting and introducing ourselves to all the new members who have come along for their very first run, apologising that we are not usually this un organised .
No problem there, we will just get back on the road and catch then up, trouble there was that Phil and Glynis pulled over for their group to wait for us, they pulled into the Lay By and everyone else went on past them, so we had all the group leaders at the back of the pack.
Luckily everyone had a brief and made their way to the bay at Angle for a coffee stop, its not everyone who can say that they organised a run and were the last to arrive at the first destination.
We took a lovely drive back through Angle, along to Freshwater West and through the sand dunes and past the beach. We then entered the Castle Martin tank range and for those of you who have never been there before, on certain days they have live firing exercises that can be viewed from the designated viewing areas, this can be quite a spectacular sight.
We passed the barracks, but as we were late did not stop to look at the Tanks on the Main Gate, and then into Bosherston for Lunch at the St Govan Inn.
After Lunch there was time for a quick stroll down to the Lilly lakes that form part of the Stackpole Estate, these are quite
spectacular at this time of year.
From then on it was a trip along the coast, passing through Freshwater East, Manobier, then on to Tenby, we pushed on and had
some spectacular views of Saundersfoot, Wiseman’s Bridge and Amroth.
We had a break for an Ice Cream at Pendine Sands, and yes, Babb’s was on display in the Museum. After this stop many of the group
were going to peel of on the way back to Pont Abraham services, so we continued along the coast to Laugharne and St Clears
before the final dash back down the A40.
Back at the services we all gathered to say our farewells to all who were still with us, both Lesley and I would like to thank all those members who turned up and supported the run, as well as a special thanks to Phil and Glynis for all their help and support it getting everyone to Angle, for without their help we would have had cars all over South Wales.
