Saturday August 20^th - Victory at Goodwood

Glorious Goodwood? Not 'alf

I am sure that most people will have their own special memories of the weekend from the first glimpse of a MK3 to tearing around the track in their own car. But for me it has to be the Inter Area Karting Competition,with South Wales being represented by Mike Paddick and Ceri (aka Teri) Richards.

The Heats

A number of us were present to see Ceri get through his heat, although our jubilation was short lived when Mike was eliminated in the next heat.

The Final

Based on their performance in the heats the contestants lined up on the grid with Ceri in No 3

.... and they're off

Despite a valiant attempt to pass the leader on the outside Ceri remains in second place

However, on the next lap, using the same manoeuvre, he succeeds!

The last lap and look who's taking the chequered flag

... now he has taken it for the victory lap

The Presentation

Unfortunately, due to assisting at the merchandise stand, Ceri missed a call for the presentation at lunchtime! However, this was rescheduled for later in the afternoon and here we see Ceri receiving the cup along with the customary bottle of bubbly.

So, having proven his driving skills against fierce competition, we shall say no more about the gambo race at Margam :)
