Despite being cold the weather was not as bad as the forecast had been, but
even the great Mazda god couldn't provide sunshine at 6pm.
A breakdown in communications led to some people being in St Fagans, when they
should have been at the services, and others being at the services when they
should have been at St Fagans!
Idris and June, along with Frank and Jane, had arrived earlier than anyone had
anticipated and decided to do the sensible thing and eat.
It was good to see some new faces that evening with Tom coming along to see
if he liked us; he is now planning on joining, so we couldn't have made too bad
an impression.
Christine arrived with Mark, who had already been celebrating something -
hopefully NOT his lesser involvement in the club.
After a wander around the attractions of the museum which are especially
delightful at Christmas, carol signing, mulled wine and plenty of local fayre on
offer, we retired to the relative warmth of the cafe. We were fortunate (if
that's the word) to have the exclusive use of the back room.
The evening was rounded off by a "Ros quiz", although she now says the
questions were set by Bob! Everyone struggled through the quiz with the best
score from Jane and Frank being 7, just as well Ros wasn't there on the night.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation to Mark Jones in
recognition of all the hard work that he, and Christine, have put into the
organisation of the region over the past couple of years. A WINTER car care kit!
For the benefit of newer members we should point out that Mark garages his car
in the winter!! So we did get him a silver key ring as well. Chris was presented
with a seasonal Poinsettia plant in recognition of her contribution to the
running of the club.
We hope to see as much of Mark and Christine, work commitments permitting, on
the runs and at meetings but they can take it easy now and not worry if the pub
lunches have been booked and is that yellow car still behind us.
